2009 AHI! AHI! AHI! AHI! A fantastic afternoon on the West side of Kauai was complimented by these monster Ahi just 1.5 miles outside the Harbor. We had it all to ourselves and the setting sun with no other boats in sight. The leeward coast is truly NO KA OI (the best)!
JULY 11 PAFC TOURNAMENT
A local favorite this PORT ALLEN FISHING CLUB sponsored event is a winner for all involved. With affordable entrance fees and prizes for biggest and smallest fish this get together is the only remaining SPORT FISHING TOURNAMENT on Kauai. Gifts like custom Z rods and Z lures, reels, tackle, equipment, cash payout for 6 classes of fish plus biggest fish, smallest fish and most caught adorn this anykine shotgun tournament. Plus this year the event is in July, the holly grail of fishing Kauai. Call to reserve the date.
THE LEGENDS OF YESTERDAY
Without question 2007 was the best Tuna Season in 30 years. I reported that Marlin were stacking up and reaching over 700 pounds and on February 21 st, 2008 we got the proof. The Big Ta Do pulled in a Pacific Blue Marlin over 720 pounds. We spent 1 hour and 20 minutes convincing this little lady to come to the boat and a good 20 minutes more bringing her onto the deck. A truly remarkable specimen she will be proudly displayed at angler Rod Lechers residence in Prince George, Canada. Joe Bloomfield holds the resin bill on Koa wood mount.
